The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a multi-disciplinary professional degree. This degree addresses mainly areas of Public Health as well as Health policy and Administration. The MPH degree focuses on public health issues including research and development. Students also get exposure to accommodate in a multidisciplinary, multicultural and multiracial environment. It provides the students adequate knowledge and competency to become next generation Public Health expert. In addition they will get exposure to different international programs and enrich their experiences.
Students The Department of Public Health offers a 1-2 year postgraduate degree as ‘Master of Public Health (MPH)’ degree is the most widely recognized professional credential for leadership in the health sector. Based on the extensive experience in teaching, research and development, the NUB in academic collaboration with leading international universities and organizations offers the Master of Public Health (International program) for medical and non-medical health professionals. The program emphasizes the development of skills and competency in management, research and communications in the relevant field.
Entry Requirements
Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent professional degree in alternative medicine, dentistry or Doctor of Medicine (MD) from any recognized national and overseas university. The degree must have to be registered with Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC)/ National Registration Authority.
OR
Four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized university with a grade point average of 2.5 or more on a scale of 4.0 in social sciences.
OR
Three-year bachelor degree with masters with at least a second class in social sciences.
OR
Master degree in a health related subject or in any social science and science subjects with an experience of working in health related fields.
OR
A two year graduation in nursing from any recognized university after duly completed four years registered nursing course from any recognized institutes. Students other than medical graduate may require appearing before a board to prove their understanding about human health and diseases. They may require taking additional preparatory courses at Northern University Bangladesh even after qualifying the test.
The candidate must qualify in an admission test or interview as applicable.
Admission of International Applicants
For purposes of admission, all persons who are not citizens or permanent residents of Bangladesh are defined as international applicants. In most cases international applicants seeking admission into Northern University Bangladesh must meet the same academic standards for admission, as those required for native students. There are wide variations; however, between educational systems throughout the world that makes exact comparison of educational standards difficult.
International applicants are selected on the basis of their prior academic work, English proficiency, probability of success in the chosen curriculum (as evidenced by prior work in the academic area involved), and certification of adequate financial resources.

2. Prepare students to develop specialization skills in one or more public health areas including.
» Developing working knowledge of the principles and methods of epidemiologic investigation to effectively identify and track threats to public health as well as strategies to enhance community health.
» Implementing cutting edge community health education and intervention programs.
» Developing public health policy, evaluating its impact on community health, and acquiring leadership skills in public health administration.
» Developing and using appropriate statistical methods to effectively evaluate public health threats and/or strategies to enhance the health of the community.
» Conducting risk assessments of various pathogens threatening the health of specific communities.
3. Provide an opportunity for interdisciplinary learning, which can be incorporated into disease prevention/amelioration.

Recognize, evaluate, and control environmental health problems. Use problem-solving process to promote, maintain and restore health in cooperation with all clients.
Synthesize knowledge from the physical and behavioral sciences, and use this knowledge as a source for making public health practice decisions promptly.
Demonstrate skill in collecting and utilizing epidemiological data for the evaluation and also for further improvement of public health care.
Demonstrate an understanding of present and future factors affecting health care delivery system.
Use appropriate communication skills in the public health professional-client relationship, as well with other members of the health team.
