The Business Department of Northern University  Bangladesh (NUB)has recently carried out the Orientation Programme for the new students enrolled for the Fall 20145 semester. This programme was held on October 29, 2015 at NUB Campus. The news students were welcomed with flowers and with a Welcome Speech by Dr. Anwarul Karim, Pro Vice Chancellor, NUB.  Mr. Emdadul Haque Milon, a famous writer and Editor of the Daily Kaler Kantho, was present as the Chief Guest, Dr. Abu Yousuf Md. Abdullah, Chairman, NUBT, was also present as the Special Guest while Dr. AWM Abdul Haque, acting Vice Chancellor, was present as an Honoured Guest.

In his speech, Dr. Abdullah said that it is more important to maintain better quality of education than obtaining high marks in the exams. Furthermore, he emphasized that more students achieving CGPA-5 or Golden GPA is not a  proper measure of high quality education. He also said that in this age of globalization, we must compete with the rest of the world to survive. He requested the Deans, Heads of the Faculties and Teachers of NUB to provide  quality education to the students. Emphasizing on thye need to be fluent in English, he further stated that if the level of English is poor then it would be tough to compete with the other nations of the world.

In his speech, Mr. Milon said that students are the Torch Bearer of knowledge and that these bearers must come forward if the light of education is to spread across the country.

Also present at the programme were Mr. Md. Anwar Hussain, Treasurer, NUB, Lt. Col (Retd.) Aqtedar Ahmed Siddiqui, Registrar in Charge, NUB, Teachers and  Officials of the Business Department and other students.
