Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
Arthur C. Clarke, Inventor, Science fiction Write & Explorer.
The aim of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at the Northern University of Bangladesh is to develop and maintain programs that will lead to excellence in teaching and research supporting the national needs for the development and application of electronics based technology starting from the basic to the advanced levels.
ECE is considered to be a key player in spurring the national growth through innovative research, education & commerce taking that expansion beyond the city’s borders. Led by expert educationists from the top of their fields, ECE academics are augmented by state of art research centers and labs that provide students with a hands-on experience. The program is also designed to teach students how to succeed in the global high-tech marketplace.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering offers a 4-year bachelor degree on "Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering". To become a graduate in this field one has to complete 155 credits.
The program is designed to satisfy the growing demand of communication professionals throughout the country. It gives students the opportunity to obtain broad-base knowledge of Electronics, Communication, Information Technology, and Telecommunication and also a freedom to tailor the program according to student's individual needs by choosing the optional subjects available in higher semesters. Moreover there are sufficient numbers of Mathematics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Production Engineering and Other Basic Science, Commerce, Arts and Humanities courses.
Entry Requirements
Minimum 2nd division or GPA 2.5 in both SSC and HSC or equivalent examinations (Science background with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in HSC or equivalent level and in O-level & A-level).
Vision
The world is gradually transforming into a global village with the development in telecommunication, electronics technology and information technology, etc. The aim of this program is to produce skilled personnel who can fulfill the requirements of these fields.
Bangladesh is now hiring foreign entrepreneurs to develop the telecommunication infrastructure of the country. It lacks knowledgeable and skilful personnel to work and invest in this sector. Huge amount of foreign exchange is being siphoned out to import technologies from abroad. The objective of the department is to develop resourceful manpower who will manufacture equipments and devices that will be used to develop telecommunication infrastructure of the country and the country's IT sector can proceed at the same pace with the developed world.

Lab Facilities
The unprecedented mobility of knowledge, technology, information and capital has redefined Electronics & Communication Engineering. ECE encompasses a wide variety of specializations and opens the door to many different careers. Our program provides a solid grounding in the fundamentals: circuit analysis, electronics, digital logic design, signal and system and computer systems. Students can choose a variety of specializations, including electronics and VLSI, control systems, telecommunications, computer systems, and microwave engineering. Synergistic environs must be created where both the faculty members and the students can maximize their potentials taking advantages of the resources available. Our program underlines lab work, with more than 30 courses using nouveau equipments in modern laboratories. Our courses are taught to small classes by professors who are established researchers and who bring their leading-edge cognition into the classroom.
Electronics & Communication Engineering Labs.
Electrical Circuit Laboratory : The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art electronic test equipments. Each laboratory bench is equipped with DC power supplies, function generators, digital/analog oscilloscopes, and dual-display digital multi-meters. This lab will show students the need for a circuit in order to have a flow of electricity. It will also demonstrate The venin’s Theorem, Norton’s Theorem, Ohm’s law, Kirchhoff’s Law, and the equivalent resistance formula to analyze parallel and series-parallel circuits.
Electronics Laboratory : These laboratories provide opportunities in basic circuit design, analysis and advanced study in feedback, oscillators, filters, and amplifier topologies. They also offer the student the capability to design, build, and test integrated differential and discrete operational amplifiers. These labs are used in the Basic Electrical Engineering, Introduction to Electronics, and Electronics Design courses.
Digital Logic Laboratory : This lab supports combinational and sequential logic design and also provides the capability to program complex programmable logic devices and field-programmable gate arrays. Students in Digital Logic Design, Fundamentals of Digital Logic, and senior design projects use this lab.
